The three-way partnership between Slovak Telekom (brand owner), Packeta (courier delivery company), and Corplex (owner of the patented ecommerce solution), which won the 2023 Innovation project of the year, has now entered serial production, with 24,000 pieces scheduled to be produced beginning February 6, 2024. The production kicked off in Hurbanovo with the presence of representatives from our two partner companies, Slovak Telekom and Packeta.
The project began more than a year ago and has gone through numerous iterations, all with the goal of creating the best performing reusable ecommerce box for delivering cell phones directly to consumers. The final design differs slightly from previous versions shown, with the following unique features:
- Fully closed edges, done during the die cutting process.
- Printing on box, done in-house with a laser printing machine.
- A dynamic QR code allowing product tracking and inventory management.
- A microperforated area for labels allowing for easy removal without leaving any residue.
Learnings from the pilot, which began in August 2023, were incorporated into serial production, such as the requirement to scan each QR code printed, upload it to an Excel spreadsheet, and check for duplicates. Using macros, operators can check for missing QR codes and account for waste that occurs during production.
The final design for fixing contents in place and preventing them from moving while in-transit is fully patent protected in the EU.
The journey from conceptualization to serial production of the Slovak Telekom/Packeta Box marks a significant milestone in our partnership’s success story. With serial production now underway, our collaborative efforts have culminated in a solution that not only meets customer expectations but makes us all hopeful about a more sustainable approach to e-commerce deliveries. The innovative features of the solution, meticulously refined over the past year, underscore our commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences and setting new benchmarks in ecommerce packaging. The pilot successfully demonstrated the ability of the partners to deliver as many as 5,791 cell phones in AkyPak® reusable and recyclable boxes.
As we move forward, we remain steadfast in our dedication to continuous improvement, leveraging our learnings from the pilot phase to streamline processes and enhance efficiency. With patent protection secured, we are poised to revolutionize the ecommerce landscape, one box at a time. Stay tuned for further updates as we embark on this exciting new chapter together.
